Hi !
I enjoy using WebWiz forums system , but I have to move to a linux server with no ASP.
I must save all of the users and the posts.
I wanted to know if any modder can make a conversion tool from Webwiz to InvisionBoard (www.invisionboard.com)
Thank you and I am very sad I have to leave WebWiz ,

I have a free hosting from my friend , but he moves to a linux server from his own reasons , and I dont want to pay money for hosting.
A lot of big forums are doing conversions tools from and to their forums...
Is it possible to do it from Web Wiz to Snitz ? Because I saw a conversion tool from Snitz to Invision, so If I will get tool for Webwiz to Snitz maybe it will help
thank you,

Please, boRg or any other Heavy modder , can u build a convertor from WebWiz to phpBB or InvisionBoard ?
phpBB people and invisionboard people dont want to do that script, and I am just getting stuck between the chairs just like a lot of other users of webwiz who have to move to linux...
Please, I beg you, I cant loose those users and posts

yo, why should Bruce do it? that would be the same as giving you away to a competitor.. and if you dont want to pay for hosting, this should be your problem..
you could manually copy all members and posts..

I really enjoyed being a user of Web Wiz Forums, so I am not glad to move to another board.
I dont see it as a tournament between the boards, and even if it is, bruce will "loose" me anyway because I will have to move to another board
anyways, How can I copy the users passwords ? They are encryped right ?

It would take the best part of a week working full time to write a conversion tool and I don't have the time.
If I did have the time I would first write a tool for converting from another board to this one.
Why not try asking them at the board you are moving to, it's more in their interest to invest the time writting such a tool.
Encrypted passwords would not be able to be moved, so you would need to
give your users new passwords, even a conversion tool won't help with
encrypted passwords.

the reason why they are encrypted one way, is so that nobody can get them, even if downloading the database.. if they were two way encrypted, you could just download a database and run a decrypt script, then you would have all the passwords

Before passwords where 160bit encrypted many people just left there
databases open in public places and didn't follow the install
instructions to protect databases.
This lead to people complaining on a daily baises that their
forums had been hacked by hackers getting hold of usernames and
passwords.
Since passwords have been encrypted this has stopped.
Most other forums systems (including phpBB, I believe) also encrypt
passwords, but each system uses a different way of doing this and so
are not compatible with each other.
