Hi,

If im going to be coding my ASP.NET in just VB.NET then would I be able to go for the cheaper option of buying Visual Basic .NET 2003 ??

Are there any limitations if I was doing my ASP.NET with VB.NET in Visual Basic .NET 2003 than if I was using the full Visual Studio .NET 2003 ?? Or are the only advantages of Visual Studio .NET 2003 in that it supports more programming languages ??

im not totally sure, but it tihnk this is correct:

<single language>.net is totally ripped versions.. they only contain the language your buying.. but, as ASP.Net can be written in notepad, VB.Net should be more than good enough.. all the features you need should be there.. but you could ask in the store where you gonna buy it, or check out microsoft.com

You can find info http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/productinfo/default.aspx - here about the various flavors of visual studio.

I think you'll be happy with vb.net. Should meet all of your needs. It cetainly can handle all of the example vb apps at http://www.asp.net - www.asp.net . Borland also has a free developers version of their c# builder which integrates quite nicely with vb.net.

VB.net can use everything as Visual Studio Standard. If you need any of the professional features you need to buy VS. With 6 they used to have a VB Professional but I don't think they make that anymore.

With the .NET Framework available for free, and a free range of tools including development environments (like Borland's Developer Edition one or http://www.icsharpcode.net/OpenSource/SD/Default.aspx - SharpDevelop or even Microsoft's WebMatrix), purchasing Visual Studio might seem financially unreasonable.

We reviewed as many tools as possible and still found Visual Studio an excellent tool, it really helped us improve our productivity, and in the end earn more money.

Good luck,
