I recently upgraded to 7.7a, and also switched from an Access database to MS SQL.

However, I discovered that I cannot post new comments to the board, nor can anyone new register with the board. However, for some reason, I can edit posts.

This is the error message I'm getting when I try to create a new member:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
error '80040e2f'

Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'Author_ID', table 'sherida_forums.dbo.tblAuthor'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.

/starwars/forum/register.asp, line 954

This is the message I get when I try to post something:

ADODB.Recordset error '800a0cb3'

Current Recordset does not support updating. This may be a limitation of the provider, or of the selected locktype.

/starwars/forum/post_message.asp, line 746

I've tried talking to my provider, but they haven't been able to help. I don't know if this is a problem with the database or the forum code, but I am in desperate need of help.

This is a problem with the database.

The database has not been created properly. Delete the database and run the msSQL_setup.asp file again.

try reinstall and replace all the forum files..

the first one looks like its not set to autonumber, the second one looks like a corrupt file or permission problems on the SQL Server

What about all the posts and members? Should I dump the database, then use the forum to re-create all the tables, then import the Access database?
