Hello.

I have recently installed version 7.01 of your WebWiz forum onto one of my sites (www.highvoltage.org.uk). However, i am experiencing problems with cookies. For example, many people (using the default Windows XP IE cookie settings) are unable to sign-up to the forum because apparantly they dont have the correct cookie settings. However, i have managed to sign-up to this (your) forum with exactly the same cookie settings! This strikes me as a little odd....

As well as this, if a user is able to sign-up to the forum, when the logout link is clicked, the user apparantly is not logged out (ie the user name still appears by the logout link etc). Which again tells me that the cookies are not quite functioning correctly.

Or am i barking up the wrong tree and this is actually a caching problem? Being a relatively experienced ASP developer who has little experience with cookies and more with session variables i am in need of aid! I have looked through the authentication code and can't see why anything is going wrong, but as i said my cookie experience is quite limited.

Thankyou in advance, Richard Marriott

PS. Sorry for putting the address of my site in the forum, i just assumed it would be needed to recreate the problem...:-)

I suspect the reason that you are having the problem is that you are using a URL masking service. The real URL is http://www.daredevilmedia.com/testarea/highvoltage/forum but is shows up as http://www.highvoltage.org.uk/ under the default settings of the most recent versions of IE the cookies would be blocked because it would be a consider a cookie from a third party.

If you users went to the long URL rather than navigating there from http://www.highvoltage.org.uk/ then they will not have that problem
