    Posted: 18 June 2008 at 1:34pm
Hello,

I have integrated my custom login system into the Forum using Member API function. Everything works perfectly fine apart from one problem.

When I login as an administrator using admin.asp and system admin login details. It wont let me change any details for a member. For instance, it wont let me change permissions for any member. I wanna assign moderator group to some of the members.

This is what I am doing at the moment:
=============================
1. Login using admin.aso
2. Click on Group and Member tools >> member administration
3. Click on the user name that I wish to edit details for.
4. Username field is faded out (i dont want to change it anyway). Even if I change user's sex from Male to Female and Click Update Record at the bottom, it shows me the following error in Javascript

Sorry, Username you requested is already taken.

Please choose another Username.

Please help !!

This issue when using the member API was fixed in version 9.50

Update your forum to the latest 9.50 release and it should fix this issue and a couple of other issues that effected member profiles when the member API is being used.

Yes you download the Express version.

You then just replace the files and images with those from the latest version keeping your database.

So you don't have to put in your database connection details again keep your existing database/database_connection.asp file.

The only time it's any different is with major version upgrades where you have to run a database upgrade tool first to upgrade the database.

All the documentation for the existing member API is found within the functions/functions_member_API.asp file.

Just open the file in notepad and it gives information on how the API works and how to set it up and enable it.

It's quite easy to use, and very easy to setup.
