Hello.

I have been looking through the login file for wwf v 7.1 and I just double checking what I am seeing.  When a user successfully logs in, a cookie named forum is set to hold the userid as UID and if the user wants to autologin set hide to true or false.

Now, here is the problem I am having:  The auto cookie isnt settings itself.  Am I correct that the auto login feature is just that?  Automatically logging the user in if they have selected this option?  I double checked by looking at the cookies on my system, my site sets a seperate cookie for something else and that works fine, but the one for the forum does not.  Any ideas?  Or am I confused about this feature

What I am wanting to do is have the forum login form on each page.  If the user is logged in we show information such as reference to their profile or something to the effect.  If not show the login form.  If there is a mod like this you can just point me there, I searched for something but I didn't find specifically what I was looking for.

Very appreciative of all your hard work!

If you look in the file login_user.asp and if statement that if the auto login is checked an expiry date of 1 year is set on the cookie this should mean that the cookie remains for a year on the users system.

I appreciate the reply, but that didn't help to answer my question of solve the problem.  I'm wanting to know how to 1) reference if a user is logged in and 2) figure out why the cookie isnt setting itself and to know if the auto login should automatically log the user in (because even on this site it doesnt log me in automatically).

I write that pretty late last night, may not have made much sense

1. A cookie is set containing the users security code forund in the tblAuthor table for the user, the cookie is rad in and matched with the usercode to get who the user is.

2. not sure why the cookie isn't setting itself on your browser, most people including myself have no problem with the auto login feature making me beleive that it is something running on your computer or your browser is removing the cookie from your browser. Try another browser or machine and see if auto login work in that.
