A few users report random disconnections while they are writing a post; they get an error message after pushing the "Post Reply" button (and their post is lost Confused).

I recommended things like:
-clean all temp files, restart the computer and log back in.
-try another browser --> safari, chrome, ff and ie do the same.
-verify the local computer clock and offset time with the server are correct.

I understand this might be an isolated issue independent from the forum software since the error is not reported by a vast pool of users but I thought I'd ask anyway in case there is something obvious to try we did not think about.

Thank you for any tip.

Do you know what the error messages are that they receive?

Also what version of the forum are you running?

The same message we get when we post after being disconnected: I can reproduce it by -for example- replying while being logged on to get the reply text box and logging off from another tab; then "post reply" gives the error:

"Error Only members with sufficient permission can access this page.

A security error has occurred with authentication.

Please ensure that all cookies are enabled on your web browser, you are not using a saved or cached copy of the page, and your Firewall/Proxy settings are not hiding or masking your IP address."

The forum version is v. 10.14.

a member brought a neat idea a few minutes ago: he noticed that he was having the problem using an apple tablet and safari with a "Private Tab"; the other users reporting the problem have not answered yet to the recommendation to verify "Private Browsing" is not on as that messes with the cookies that the user/forum clean connection depends on.
Still it would not explain why it happens randomly.

There were problems like this with earlier versions of the 10.x of the forum, cant remember the exact version number. But it should fix it if you upgrade to the latest as I believe it was fixed.

To prevent Cross-site request forgery (XSFR) attacks and form hyjacks a unique form ID is created in the user session when the page containing the form in the forum is loaded.

If a forum member is using multiple devices or ways to connect at the same time this would cause the users form ID in their session to be overwritten causing issues like you mention.
