Found a bug that is iis 6.0 related only.

  • Component used for uploading: aspsmartupload
  • file size used =  1.5 mb
  • windows 2003 webserver
  • forum version 7.01

Request object error 'ASP 0104 : 80004005'

Operation not Allowed

/dark project/forum/functions/functions_upload.asp, line 286

'Save the file first to memory
    .Upload

Is there a fix for this? Or does it simply mean I have a cache or setup problem in iis.

The problem doesn't occur when using persist aspupload. It has something to do with saving the file to the memory while uploading.

Upload compoents can be setup to disallow some properties, maybe this component on the server ha been setup to disallow saving to memoery. This is something you would need to take up with your hosting company, but they maybe doing this for security reasons as many do.

Well....I am my hosting compagny so changing settings would be easy.

How would I change the settings of this component, or in this case iis 6.0? I'm sure it has more to do with the iis settings. I've enabled all locked down extensions and have every security setting that I can think of disabled..still it returns the error..

The same thing happens when using this method without component request binaryread totalbytes.

I've got it running on my server at home. I previously had xp and iis 5.0.. The component was working..request binary read was working.

I installed the component  on iis 6.0 the same way and the request binary read code hasn't been changed of the other asp code I'm using...  iis 6.0 causes problems using these methods..

Is there a method to force an upload to not use the memory?

I'm sure anyone will be able to reproduce the error with iis 6.0.

If you can no longer upload to memory with aspsmartupload, you will have to use a differebt upload component. Other free upload components are supported by the forum.
