I am using ver 9.x and I am having the following problem with SEO.

Google reports thousands of Duplicate title tags and Duplicate meta descriptions because of the PID parameter. The following 2 urls point to the same page, but a higher PID could point to another page. 

/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=405&PID=269
/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=405&PID=294

I was wondering if you plan on fixing this by removing this URL parameter. Why do you need it anyway?

I'm not sure about WWF V9, but V10 has the Canonical tag.

If you are using Google Webmaster Tools you can actually tell Google to ignore the PID, if it bothers you that much. Though along with the use of the Canonical tag, Google should be able to work out duplicate pages and use the correct main page.


The PID is there to allow you to jump to the correct page. Lets say there is 10 pages in a thread, which page do we want to look at? So I can not see this being removed in future versions.

You may want to consider upgrading to the latest version to take advantage of new features, as there is also URL Rewriting to aid in SEO.

Version 10 does deal much better with the issue of Duplicate Title Tags by including the page number within the title to prevent duplicate titles with Topics and Forums that run across multiple pages.
