Microsoft finally released SP1 for SQL Server 2005. Besides the bug fixes I am excited that DB Mirroring is finally supported... plus for Express they now have a download with SQL Sever Express Management Studio, a scaled down Management Studio which seems to be quite nice, Express now can do Reporting Services and Full Text Search.

SP1 is here

That was quick, they only released SQL 2005 just before Christmas.

I like the fact that SQL 2005 Express has more features, as I am planning on using it for the backend for this site.

I think that SQL 2005 Express will really take on mySQL when it comes to database backends for web sites now that both are free.

They also announced that all Express products will be free forever. I know they were free till now as part of a promotion, guess they figure they could not pull the charge you later thing.

I think one of the main reason for a quick release was to push feature they could not cram into the original release date, more of a feature pack than a service pack but who cares.
