hi

bit of a strange one this.

I have a website built with asp with many categories driven by a SQl database.

The main table that runs the site has over 10,000 records. Everything works like clockwork really but every now and again when a category is clicked it only brings back 10 records, no more or less but 10 records even though there may be upto 3000 records in the category. Obvioulsy for an ecommerce site its far from ideal! It doesn't happen all the time, if i refresh the 10 records a few times it will refresh to 3000 records again. Really odd and very frustrating as if people think there are only 10 records they wont stay long - even though in reality they may be upto 3000!

any help will be greatly appreciated

many thanks
mark

an abstract idea: one of your categories (or result of a subselect) is labeled *Top 10 something* what leads to some funny SQL-injection-like behaviour?

maybe write the SQL statement (for your login only of course) into the page and double check in management studio or queryanalyzer when that happens again - things often become much clearer then

Having been tormented by an asp site, I blew up a 2 year old project and rebuilt in PHP.  All my problems went away.  It was painful but ultimately the right choice.
