Hello helpful people

I have some problems with my new installed forum. My friends and I often have a problem with this error:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error ‘80004005’

Timeout expired

/functions/functions_common.asp, line 710

Once I had this error in Default.asp in line 236

I don’t know what to do; I have bought the system, so I very much hope I can make it work..

This is a server issue.

Your MS SQL Server is not returning the data in the allowed time.

From the hosting company I received this information..

 

Timeout expired – is something you can place in the connection string – see example

 

The what me to connect like following, the new thing is "Connect Timeout=30"

 

I have kept the org. code for the forum, but is it possible to set the connect Timeout=30 in one of the files??

 

Please be specific, because my knowledge of ASP is junior amateur..

I have found the file containing data source, user id, password but nothing about connect timeout??

 

Please help me..

Try placing the connection timeout property at the end of the connection string.

Please give me an example... I don’t know ASP yet, but perhaps in time.

 

Best with an example form the org. code (please filename)

 

I don’t know what two look for??  Is there only one place to do this or hundreds???

It's held in the SQL connection file in the admin area.

I've never tried adding a timeout to the connection so you'll just have to try it.
