I am using BarCode Slot Reader with VB 6. A carriage return character is added in the with the string I get from the port. I want to drop this character to have the rest of the string. I don't know how to use Mid, Repllace etc functions. If anyone know pls help me.

Value = Trim(Mid(vlauetriming,start number, maxium number))

Value = Trim(Mid(value,1,20))

that will get the value for the first 20 charecters

You could also use left()

Value = left(string,20)

Would take 20 characters, or to take all but the one on the right:

Value = left(string,len(string) - 1)

If you just use RTrim(string) it will knock crlf's off
