I have seen numerous discussions on the pros and cons of tableless layouts. Still some webmasters believe that div structures are not that semantic and are difficult to manage.

What structure do you use in your sites, if not CMS?

I try to use div more often. If done right you can style your site much easier using CSS.

But if its something that is laid out in more blocks such as this forums, tables is better and easier to use.

Div structure is easy to create and give stylish look with the help of CSS, I think tableless is more usable today then table

Div structures are difficult to manage. But tableless layouts do not have fixed width that tables have therefore they exhibit a floating feature where you can adjust & fit them where ever you want to.

I don't think divs are harder to manage, but admittedly it took a while originally to ween myself off tabled design, it is very out of date now.  Divs just take a bit of practise and you need to look at a page in a slightly different way.  Divs do come with a host of benefits as well (their fluidity is very nice to work with once you get the knack!).  Once you go div you never go back!

Having said that, tables do still have their place.  I believe they should be used for their semantic purpose which is to display table data.  For example tables of results, leagues, things like that.

Here's a great question that gives a good overview:

Also in terms of employability if you go for a web development job interview and they ask you to do a quick template to show your skills, doing a table based design is a good way to not get the job!
