Hi,
 
Is there a way, when using the Black Skin, to change the text highlight colour when searching ?
Currently it is yellow, but it does not look good on white text.

Yes:
Open up forum/css_styles/dark/default_style.css and using a text editor see these lines:

/* Search highlight */
.highlight{
    background-color: #ffff66
}


It's around line 50

Change the hex code ffff66 to whatever colour background you prefer
