Hi,

I have just installed the Web Wiz Forums application (using MS SQL Server) and I am facing a strange behaviour.

Actually I have defined a new user called "Jules" and assigned it to the Administrator group.

I log with this user "Jules", I create a new Forum Category, then a new Forum under the Category.

I go back to the main Forums page to display what I have created and there I can see the stuff but my new Forum is qualified with the following on the right side "11-June-2004 at 17:01 By Forum Administrator"

I would expect to see "By Jules" and not "By Forum Administrator".

What is the trick ?
I have deleted all cookies, restarted, re-tried many times and still it is the same.

Also, I went into the table tblForum and there I do not see any field that would hold the Author_ID but still I believe this information should be hold somewhere.

Could you please enlight me.

Thank you
-paTou-

You should only ever have one adminstrator, having multiple admins can only course security problems and only the buil't in admin account has full admin rights throughout the forum.

When a new forum is created there are no topics or posts within it. So then something is required for the main forum page to display in the right hand coloumn, which is meat to display the last post name, not who created the forum!!

There is no point in storing in the database who created the forum as this will just create extra over head that isn't required.

So if nothing can be found on the last poster in the forum the person who last posted defaults to 'Forum Administrator' even if the forum admin is not called that name.

Once someone posts a topic in a forum this will change to the last person who posted.

The only reason for this is that something is required for when a forum is first created and there is nothing else that can be displayed without putting extra data in the database, which is only used for a sort time, and further reduce performance by adding extra data to the database.

Your explanation is crystal clear and makes a lot of sense.
Also having multiple administrators is indeed a very bad practice.

Thank you very much for your time and support !!
