My forum gets spammed EVERY SINGLE DAY from countries like India, China etc...these spammers compromise my content and I have had enough of it.

How would I go about completely restricting access from these regions?

The administrative workload has become too much as I am the only one that monitors my forum and I need a solution quickly before I pull all of my hair out. Angry

Thanks

Blocking spammers from certain countries requires expensive subscriptions to GeoIP database providers in order to lookup the IP country.

Have a look through the spam prevention page below for ways to block spammers:-

The best ways are to have email activation enabled, along with links and images disabled for the new member group. If you wish to go further you could also have moderator approval required for posts by members of the starting group.

If you also don't mind running beta versions, the 10.10 beta version available on the download page has built in support for StopForumSpam which is a database of known spammers which can block known spammers from signing up to your forum. The 10.10 beta version also has a new 'Spam Cleaner' tool for removing and blocking spammers that get through the other checks.

I installed version 10.10 and also got my StopForumSpam setup.

I noticed that the quick-login has been removed???

I also noticed that the Captcha from the admin login has been removed?

The quick login is removed in 10.10 so that the forum can comply with the new EU Cookie directive which become law as of next month, as need members to use the longer login form which has extra options to comply with the EU directive.

CAPTCHA has been removed from Web Wiz Forums as it is no-longer affective against automated bots which are now able to read CAPTCHA codes that even a person is not able to read. Instead other methods are used to prevent automated bots from submitted forms.

If the forum software had the ability to restrict all IP addresses other than North America and Australia my spam would go from 100% down to near 0%

If you are looking for GeoIP databases in order to have this ability try  http://www.ip2location.com and  http://www.maxmind.com

Both can provide GeoIP database which you can use to block IP's from certain countries from accessing your website.

We have looked at including such functionality within Web Wiz Forums but the price of providing such databases would mean a large price increase to cover the many $1,000 would need to pay each year in subscription fees for these types of database, not to mention monthly updates to keep the GeoIP database up to date.
