Is there any way of relaxing the topic maximum character count so as to allow documents and papers to be "published" as topics?

If this was a tunable parameter which could also be restricted to certain user groups - like Admins and Moderators, for example - it would be a big help to me.

I could just amend the ACCESS table definition for the field but this would open the door for everyone to post big topics. Something a little more targetted would be better.

All suggestions gratefully received.

Do you mean the topic subject?

If you mean the main post the only restriction on the main post is the 100Kb that the ASP Request Object can handle.

The amount then is different for every site as the ASP Request object handles cookie, form post data, browser headers, and many more items that will be unqiue to every web site and every user.
