I also open the file:

You might want to consider checking to ensure that the upload directories you specified in the Admin section do exist - Admin doesn't create them, and that they have R/W permissions for scripts/IUSR_xxxx.

Also helps to follow the instructions and turn off "friendly error messages" and post the explicit error message. "Doesn't Work" is not a description that's going to let many people figure out what's wrong.

For the upload button to appear on the rte, the user has to belong to a group that has permission to upload files. Check the group permissions in the Admin section.

Reload rte_setup.asp and any other rte files you may have changed from the original source files just to make sure you've backed out any changes.

For the upload to work:

  1. Your web host must support upload component selected - may free web hosts don't support any upload component.
  2. Destination directory(ies) must already exist.
  3. Destination directories must have proper permissions.
  4. Upload must be enabled in Admin.
  5. Proper directory paths must be specified in admin.
  6. Unmodified ret_xxxxx files.
  7. User's group must have permission to upload in that specific forum.
  8. User must have JavaScript Enabled.
  9. User's browser must support the MS RTE component.
  10. Your web host should not inject any javascript into the pages the way many free web hosts do.

To determine what upload componets are on your machine, download and run the scripts from http://www.pensaworks.com/prg_com.asp
