MANUFACTURERS in the Blu-ray founders group said that they've approved version 1.0 of the BD-ROM physical format spec.
That means companies will be able to start selling BD-ROM players, drives and pre-recorded software towards the end of 2005.
What
is the specification? You can't find out except by contacting the
licensing agent and signing a licence agreement. That, apparently, is
part of the spec too.

The
interested parties are the usual suspects - Dell, HP, Hitachi, LG,
Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, TDK, and
Thomson.
