Hi all,

I've been running webwiz 7.1 without any problems for over a year now.  Suddently I'm getting the following error:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '8007000e'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] System resource exceeded.

/forum/default.asp, line 127

I haven't changed the code for ages. My service provider has informed me that it is because the forum isn't closing all its connections. I haven't clue what that means or how to fix it. Any help appreciated.

Appologies if this has been covered before, I did do a search for this error.

To start the forum does close all database connections, I hav spent many hours on this (even days) checking every single connection is closed.

This error is common on shared web servers when they run low on system resources.

This is because other sits on the server will effect your site and other ASP applications on your site.

Access uses allot of server resources as it is a flat file system, if you cahnge to SQL Server it won't use so many server resources.

You could also ask your web host to allow more server resources for your site, or better change to another web host that has faster servers with less sites on them.

Many thanks Bruce, I did seem to remember that the issue of closing connections had been addressed by yourself and this led me to doubt the service providers explanation.

I've been looking into the MS SQL option, I've yet to find a service for less than £400 per annum. I can't justify this for a forum that allows a handful of specialists and the occasional member of the the puclic to communicate.

Can anyone recommend an MS SQL solution that is affordable and proven to work with webwiz?
