Apparently MS will finally unbundle IE version releases from New windows releases. The Beta of IE7 will be released this summer, about a year ahead of the Longhorn Windows release.

The new release will be primarily security oriented but will also include a spyware checker. For XP SP2 only, although there may be a W2K version to follow.

There will also be an XP SP3 out this year, maybe with IE7, maybe not.

I normally avoid IE beta's like an ex-wife but will probably test this one out. If they fix the broken implementations of CSS, XHTML, and HTML in this release, a lot of sites that are designed to look good only in IE may wind up broken.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.

Finally, hopefully they will take some tips from firefox and actually use some web standards, support CSS2, tabbed browsing and an adblocker like adblock would be nice to.

Seeing as Microsoft Anti-Spyware is freeware it would be quite nice if it was integrated into windows and the security center.

It's going to be interesting to see IE7.  I think they also need to update the look of it if they want to try to pull back some of the lost users.

Bundling it into windows is probably an anti-trust violation. After the sh*t they went through with IE, I'd be surprised to see that happen. Might see it in the security center as other software firewall vendors have similar functionality and they can be used as security center firewall replacements.
 
3/4 of the time I spend on CSS is spent making it work in IE. It would be huge if they only fixed the box model. Would get rid of a lot of "div soup".

Maybe if MS allowed you be remove WMP and other stuff once you had installed windows it would stop them getting sued. Linux comes bundled with everything to and Mac OSX even more but they dont get sued because:

1)They arent as popular
2)They allow you to remove browsers etc
