I am very eager for the final to be released.
My plan to modify the code is quite big. I've downloaded beta 4 and examine the code right now.
First, I want to upgrade the code to complete VB.NET which alone is going to take me three to four months to do (I can only spare two to three hours a day - am I glad that I have a TV tuner in my computer, otherwise, I'd be a total nerd - I think I'm still just a geek).
Second, I want to make the code complete XHTML compliant, that is, getting rid of all legacy tags like <font> and <b> and <table bgcolor=""> etc. That is going to be quite an annoying task, but since I did it once, I think I can do it again.
Third, I am going to have to add a lot of new fields, specifically to the users table. Since a lot of people request customized fields, I'm thinking allowing administrators to add fields and field captions theirselves.
Then, I'm going to need to do the same to some add-on modules. For example, a special forum named events so I can link it with a calendar system. Some basic project management stuff. Maybe a chat system. Maybe a portal so user can choose his/her prefered language. A photo album system, so users can create and upload his/her own gallerys. I was thinking about adding a spell checker for posting, but since I mostly deal with multi-lingual clients, I will just skip that part. Hopefully, I can have all of it done by the end of the year (could be sooner, but I'm going to give myself some time off to travelling and vacationing).
There's about 160 asp files to be modified, and about 20 to 30 to be added. A lotta stuff for sure.
Can't wait for the final (never said that in school).
Meanwhile, going to upload my modified collection of 64x64 3D animated avatars.
