Hi,
 
Will need information on how to set up the database connection. We are using MSSQL and and the current arrangement is using a machine ODBC connection on the web server and database is behind the firewall. Think I'll need to connect using a DSN rite?
 
Had been browsing thru the forums... the only help i can see are DSN connection with Access database. Cry
 
Can this forum be configured with DSN and MSSQL? This is because of security issues... need to have firewall for the database.
 
Will someone please enlight me? thanks.

Whether you use a DSN or not, the Firewall needs to be open on port 1433 if you connect via IP. You can setup this forum to use a DSN, simply change the connection string but from what I hear it's slower.

Thanks for the info, finally the client is willing to allow us to connect directly. However, I'll need to encrypt the connection details.. Anybody has help done this before? Insert an encrypt and decrypt function in the SQL_server_connection.asp page?
