OK folks, here is my problem.

I am using access ver7.9 on a server loaded with ASPMail.

My forum is NOT configured to require a new user to activate their account with a registration email.

When a user registers and does not enter an email address, their registration works fine.  When they register and enter an email address (even if all email notifications are set to no) the following error comes up:

Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3'

Server.CreateObject Failed

/URWHO/functions/functions_send_mail.asp, line 285

800401f3

I am brand new to ASP and trying to teach myself, but in the meantime, can anyone translate this and give me an idea what my problem may be?

This means that the email component you have selected in the admin area is not installed on the server, so the welcome email is failing to be sent.

You need to go to the email configuration page in the admin area and disable all email features of your forum.

Thanks - this was actually a big dumb mistake on my part.  I was reading the tech support area for my host about AspMail, but they were only offering it as a reference.  Turns out, I was supposed to be using CDOSYS, and when I changed the forum config to CDOSYS, everything worked great.  Thanks for the help!  I appreaciate your assistance and patients with complete noobie idiots like myself.
