How does this board compare to PHPBB?

I've never really used phpBB so can't really say what the differences are.

But, phpBB is written in PHP which runs best on a Linux/Unix web server and Web Wiz Forums is written in ASP so runs best on an Windows IIS web server.

So the software you use largely depends on what OS you are using for the web server as to which one will perform better for you.

PHPBB has the clear advantage (and disadvantage) of a larger community. They have a total of 238,669 registered users, while we only have 9,210. This means they have more skins, mods, and other attachable bells and whistles. Where WWF shines is the coding. WWF is faster, smarter, and more secure than PHPBB by far, and I believe that WWF is simply better all around. It is definatly much easier to skin and mod than PHPBB.

So in the end, you're basically weighing between Bells and Whistles and Functionality. Even though your pretty much choosing the forum that matches your server operating system, I still believe WWF is #1.

I use both WebWiz and PHPBB on diffrent clients forums, I use PHPBB for clients forums if their website was already in PHP and vise versa for ASP and Webwiz.

In my humble opinion Webwiz is far more secure and wellbuilt than PHPBB, also i personally reckon it's quicker, smoother and better layed out.

Thats not to say PHPBB doesn't have it's good points, the commnity is huge and the amount of mods, skins and extra graphics is huge.... Altho when Ver8 of Webwiz is released i can see the same thing happening.
