Hi Borg, I searched for something similar to this but couldn't find anything... so here it goes...

The members on my forum including myself keep getting logged off out of nowhere. I experience this also each time I am on my site. I will be browsing through topics then when I try to reply to something, all of a sudden it asks me to log in again. This happens several times while on the same visit which gets annoying because sometimes i've typed something up and it gets erased because I have to log in again.

This means that either you are using load balanced web servers, IIS 6 web garden , or the sever has issues and the app pool is recyling.

Luckily I have already thought of all these situations and have built in a solution.

Edit the file 'functions/functions_session_data.asp' and change the following variable to true as shown below:-

Const blnDatabaseHeldSessions = True

This will force the session data to be stored in the database instead of using an application level array. This will effect performance but should fix the issue.

Hi Borg. I have the same problem. I had tried doing what you wrote above but it didn't work. I still find myself logged off at intervals.
Can we try something else?

When does this logging off happen? Could you explain in detail

Also, do you get Session ID's (SID=) appended to URL's as you move around in the forum?

Do you know if your IP is changing?

You could also look in the database in the tblSession table and see when your session changes if the old session remains in the database, and pay particular attention to the IP field to see if that changes.

Also please start a new topic as your issue maybe completely different to the topic starter as this issue can happened for a number of reasons and trying to give support to two different people in the same topic doesn't really work.

Well, it seems like it is working so far. I have not been logged off, but i am waiting for feedback from my users to see if they are no longer getting logged off either.
