Topic: linux community is dumb..more proof.. Posted: 17 April 2006 at 10:54am |
go to http://www.linux.organd it works fine.. go to http://linux.org and it tell you to update your bookmarks and since the site as been moved to www.linux.org technically speaking, www.linux.ord is a subdomain since the www part is no more required and the domain consist only of name and tld.. therefore whats the point of moving the main site to subdomain and telling visitors to update bookmarts

But you forget, they use Linux precisely because they don't like to get
things right the first time, and they would much rather repeat
unnecessary steps so they can suffer great amounts of pain.
It's a kind of masochistic self-validation.
I bet you'll find lots of *nixers visiting (or starring in) the BDSM web sites~!

erm right nothing there has any foundation in fact. Linux.org isn't and never will be a proper linux site. Defending Linux on this forum is pointless on this forum as I seem to be the only one who knows much about it. My site currently re-directs from www. to no www

All my websites allow you to use the domain name with or without the www, although I prefer that people use the www version because it screws up my stats when they don't.
On some of my sites, I set up IIS so that if you type in an address without the www, it forwards you to the same page, except with the www. That way my stats don't show two entries for the same page just because someone didn't use the www.
