Hi all

Just finished setting up my forum today and noticed that every time someone starts a thread, the WWF banner get placed underneath the sig area. Is there a way to turn this off? I have no problem with an ad banner at the top, nor do I have a problem with the 'powered by' logo at the bottom, but having the banner in the threads as well, its a bit much isn't it? My forum is quite small, and the ad banners nearly take up more room on the page than the actual forum.

Is it possible to turn off the thread ads?

To remove the advertising, including that from posts you would need to purchase a license key for the software.

I know people don't like the ads, but thats the idea, also the ads within posts get more clicks, as the click through rate of forums is very low anyway at about 0.05%

mmmm, a license key is a bit out of my price range (at the moment), so I guess I'll just live with it.

It just seems a bit overkill to have them in the threads as well; it's not like visitors haven’t seen the banner yet when they visit the forum; its got the exact same ad 10cm above. Like I said, the top banner ad and the logo at the bottom are fine, but reading a thread and seeing the same ad twice on the same page to WWF and a logo at the bottom to WWF...well I think after reading 20 or so threads they get the point that its powered by WWF. Even just making the ad a bit smaller (maybe half the size of the top banner) would be better.

Anyway, just my 2c.

The ads in the posts get better click through, the better click troughs the more money advertisers will pay for advertising.

The ads at the top and in posts don't show the exact same ads, they display different ads from within the Web Wiz Guide ad network.

Because of issues with Google Ads the Web Wiz Guide ads had to be implemented sooner than was anticipated, this means that the ad system is not yet fully complete, so at the moment only contains a few ads from other advertisers.

The ad system will be fully implemented within the next few weeks when you should start seeing ads from other companies, like AspIn.com and AlertBot, which we already have adversing partnerships with.

The ads are not supposed to be liked, but they are required to pay for the free version.

It's a case of either not have a free version or use advertising to pay for the free version, if people don't like the ads then they can pay for a license.

This helps pay towards the costs of hosting, distribution, development, email/phone support, etc., as well as the costs of running a business such as accounts, trademarks, company registration, solicitors, etc.

The revenue bought in will also help to pay towards paying for more employees and to further develop the software and a new site geared towards FAQ's and modifications for Web Wiz Forums.

The new revenue has already help pay towards the new email and phone support, with UK and US contact numbers, which is now offered on top of the free support forum, so users are already seeing advantages.

Is there a way to run our own ads in the forum threads?

In the present version you would need to modify the code to do this, but unless you have purchased a license key the ads already in the software need to run 'asis' and can not be changed.
