    Posted: 29 April 2003 at 9:21am

I just visited my forum to find that the posts were all gone and had been replaced my a large anti war email post in a large font. Not only the path to my homepage and to the title image I'd put up were all gone. So I went in and reconfigured the passwords etc and added the forum categories again, but I can't for my life remember how to get my title image back up. This is my image code.

<td width="550" height="129" valign="top"><img src="Graphics/discussionbanner2.gif" width="550" height="129"></td>

Thanks for your help

Louise

You place the path to your title image in the admin area.

Also unless you follow the documentation on securing your database, then you will be hacked again.

You should at the very least rename the database, better still also place it in a folder outside of your web site on the server so that it is not accessible by HTTP.

I did try to place the image in the admin area, using that code, or variations of it, but it didn't take.

so I was hacked. Hmmm. that stinks. I thought I had secured my database. where is the documentation? I built this forum a few months ago and it's been a while since I thought about it. I actually want to put it on the clients server but haven't done so yet. But I have a new site to create that will rely heavily on a forum page and I was hoping to use webwiz again.

If you download the latest version (version 7.01) all the passwords are 160bit one way encrypted which should give you more protection against a hacker if they do download your database as they won't be able to decrypt your passwords.

Also you will get the documentation on securing the database, which is still recommened you do as it is better to be safe than sorry later.

great, I'll try to do that this weekend by downloading the new version. I've recommended webwiz to a lot of other web people as it's great.

there's not much in the database right now so the poor hacker didn't get inot much trouble at all.

but to the image title? why won't it load? I go into admin, then configure web settings etc, and then on the window for the page title image I put that code in and it doesn't upload. Any clues? the image it refers to is on the server.

You don't need to type in the HTML into the text box in the admin area, simply type the path to the image:-

I checked in on my forum this morning and while it hasn't been hacked, my logo title is gone again. Any clues. It was up there yesterday and I haven't moved any files around on the server
