I've been using aspSmartUpload as my upload component. Does anybody know if it is possible for user to automailly re-size their image at upload time.
Example Bob has a 1mb image and when uploads it re-sizes it to 50 K.
Any ideas please let me know.
Thanks

i think in php and asp.net image resizing possible but in asp it is possible with some componenets (i dont know smartupload supports resizing)
i use php codes in a frame to resize images. if you interests i can send codes to you...

golgoe, Thanks
I did some research and smartupload appears to be an upload component. SO my real question is... If anybody is using the picture upload, do they have an automatic image "resizing" at upload time? My member have a hard time uploading the proper image size and this would be a great feature to have.

i think this is imposible. components can not resize images before uploading completed, i know...
first image must copied from users computer to server machine to make process on it...

It depends on when you mean "at upload" is. If you mean while the image is stil at the client, then no you can't resize it. If you mean as part of the upload process as a whole, then it can be done but would involve the user uploading the 1mb file and it then being validated and resized on the server before being finally saved. The Photo Album I'm working on does just this. The image is uploaded from the client first, then the file size checked and rejected if too large, then the imaegs is rescaled to 800x600 pixels before being saved.

Yes, MrMellie
User could randomly select an image, uploaded the image and if the image is to large, re-size it to the proper size before displaying. If you have a component like this can you share it? It would be like an advance thumbnail program.
