Hello,

I've recently installed Web Wiz Forums and I'm quite happy with it, but I can't seem to get the Windows Authentication feature to work. I'm running a completely patched 2003 server with SQL 2005. The SQL server uses mixed mode authentication.

Here is the error I get when I set Windows Authentication to "true" in the functions file:

Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occured while reading Authenticated User's, username from Windows Server.
Please check that are using a Windows Authenticated Login System and you are NOT browsing this site anonymously.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_windowsAuthentication()_get_AUTH_USER
File Name:- functions_windows_authentication.asp

Error details:-

The error appears with various browsers (IE 6 & 7, Firefox 2.0).

Is there something that I missed with enabling this feature? It seems I only have to turn it on, but perhaps there is more to it?

Searching the forums didn't reveal anything obvious. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Within IIS Admin you need to remove the "Anonymous Access" right to the folder with WebWiz installed and make sure that "Integrated Authentication" is enabled.

You may also have to update the NTFS permissions on the folders / files that WebWiz is installed into.
