    Posted: 29 June 2007 at 8:32pm
I have just upgraded to 8.06.

I am having problems uploading an image.  From the Post Reply screen, I clicked the "Insert Image" icon.  I then get an Image Properties screen.  I entered the Image URL and clicked Preview.  The image shows up in the Preview screen.

Once I have previewed the image, the OK button is enabled and I click OK.

I am returned to the Post Reply screen.  I then click the Post Reply button.  The button appears to be pressed for about 5 seconds but nothing happens.  It remains on the Post Reply screen.

At this point, clicking anything on the screen does not work - buttons, links etc.  Although the screen is not frozen, nothing works on it when clicked.  Only thing I can do is close the window.

I have the Flash Files/Images: setting as ON.

What else can I check to fix this error?

Check you do not have a corrupted file by reuploading the files again.

If you have integrated the forum into your own site check that any code you have integrated is not conflicting with the forums javascript code.

I am having the exact same problem.  The upload image appears in the uploads/temp folder but never makes its way to the regular upload folder.

Which files do you think are corrupted?

The original post in this topic is on a different subject to what you are experiencing as they are not uploading image, just using the RTE to insert images into a post.

Some server setups do have issues with the upload system in version 8, which is why version 9 has had this completely re-written and also includes a File Upload Manager available for each of your users who are allotted an certain amount of upload space.

Version 9 should be out in full in about a week or so, so you should look at upgrading to this new version to address the issues that you are experiencing.

I did not do a very good job explaining.

When I try to post a new topic (or a reply), I insert an image through the RTE by uploading.  Everything looks ok.  It inserts the image into the post text box.  But when I click the submit (post) button, nothing happens.  The script eventually times out.

I checked to see if it may be permissions problem on the upload folder.  That is when I discovered that the image is in the temp folder and not in the regular upload folder as it has been in the past.

I am using a dedicated server from 1&1.

Yes you did explain yourself well, my last post was about the problem you have.

1&1 and GoDaddy are two hosts worth avoiding, just look at the number of issues people on here have with those hosts. This may well be the reason you have the problem you do as it's not common for 1&1 to miss configure servers, even worse trying to convince their frontline support who no nothing that you actually have a problem.

Ok, cool.  I appreciate the help.

1&1 has been a difficult host to deal with.  Their support does stink.  However, I am concerned about leaving them because I have 70+ domains tied to my 1&1 account.  I moved from their hosted account to a dedicated server because of they could not handle the traffic my site generates.

I have had actually good fortune with the dedicated server so far. (Hopefully, I have not jinxed myself)

Try using a control panel like Helm, makes moving servers easy. Last time moved a server running Helm and over 100 web sites it took about 2 hours.
