...when trying to send out a mass email from my forums: 

Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3'

Server.CreateObject Failed

/forum/admin/functions/functions_send_mail.asp, line 154

800401f3

I send out a mass email every week, and this is the 1st time I've had this problem. I am running version 7.7a, and the component that my host runs is CDONTS. Please inform - thank you.

This error means that the component you are trying to use is not installed on the web server.

Micrososft dropped support for CDONTS many years ago and hosts are slowly starting to no-longer support it anymore as it doesn't allow authentication which means your host has to setup insecure mail servers which is a great for spammers and a complete nightmare for web hosts.

Check that your web host has not dropped support for CDONTS.
