I'm looking at Newspad as a possible replacement for listserve...

Anyone that can tell me any significant loss of capabilities?
I can see some obvious bonuses to Newspad, i.e. RSS feeds etc.

We have some lists that have 10,000+ members, is this product capable have handling this kind of load?

Thanks in advance.

It can handle as many as your web and mail server can handle.

Sending 10,000 or even 100,000 should not be an issue, if the mail server you are using becomes overloaded you can pause the sending process whenever you want and start again later.

There is also a batch send timer built in, so if your mail server looks like it will struggle with this amount at once you can have NewsPad send say 500 emails, then stop for 20 minutes, then send the next batch of 500.

NewsPad also records the last user it sent to, so if you ever have any problems you can start off again were it left off.

Hi, sorry to pick up the thread 2yrs later, but I was wondering if during the batch emailing we can close the browser window and let the server do the work, or if we have to leave the window open.

My server allows me to send to only 10 recipients per message, and with a list of almost 4.000, that might take a while...

NewsPad sends individual emails to each recipient allowing you to customise it with the persons  name, and other customisations. This means that the 10 recipients per message would not be an issue as each email only goes to 1 recipient.

NewsPad can send emails in batches (eg 100 emails per hour) this prevents mail servers becoming over loaded, you can also pause the sending process at any time and come back to it at a later date.

To do this NewsPad uses JavaScript to connect to the server to control the sending of the emails and tell the server when to send off the emails. This does mean that you do need to keep the browser window open during the sending process. However, if you do shut the browser for whatever reason NewsPad remembers where it left off and can resume the sending process from that point.
