Using the member API...

When auto registering our users on the forum using our existing user database, is it possible to assign roles/groups to users based on our own membership levels.

so that based on their current membership levels they will automatically receive  (or be denied) the necessary permissions to create categories, topics etc etc

Is there another session variable that can be used for this?

cheers

Mike

It adds new users to the starting group.

The only other way to do this is edit the code in the functions_member_API.asp page to place in some code which can place them into different user groups.

I am happy doing that.  Just looking through that page, I am guessing that I would need to replace the intForumStartingGroup variable used in the INSERT statement?

Yes, what you would need to do is find the Group_ID from the database for each of your groups.

The depending on which group you want the member to be in you would place that Group_ID into the intForumStartingGroup variable.
