If in my case, you have set up your forum so people who are unregistered cannot browse the whole forum (in my case only one forum thread), does this also prevent Google and other search engines, locating and browsing the other topics?

I'm not sure really, but I was a bit fed up with peeps just being able to browse an entire forum as a "guest" without actually signing up first. By default then, we ask them to post at least once, before they can get to the entire forum threads. Any comments would be appreciated

Google is a "Guest", so if you make it login required, Google wont see it.

Thanks MadDog

Is there anyway then of adding Google as an authorised user? or would it be better to lift the restrictions? I just didn't really like the idea of anyone peering over a friendly forum and not even posting!

Google does have a API to make them an authorized user, but it would require a little bit of custom coding and reading up on the API on your part.

Cheers MadDog
I'll look into this. It may very well be the case of just letting all and sundry have access
