Assistance Upgrading From version 8.06 to 9.50

Hello - I recently took over a webforum and need assistance with upgrading from version 8.06 to 9.50.  I have tried find documentation on upgrading buy have found nothing so far. 

To upgrade do I just download the new version 9.50 and copy the files over the old ones or is there more to it?  I believe I will have to get rid of the theme since it was for 8.06 and no version was created for version 9.5.  Can anyone help me out here please?

Nevermind I believe I figured it out if I just would have unzipped the 9.50 downloaded zip file I would have seen the upgrade tool.  Once I do that I believe I just copy the forum files over my old ones and any files I changed manually.  Sorry to waste your time.....

When doing a major version upgrade it's best to remove all the old files and images and then using the database upgrade tools upgrade the database.

Once you have done this upload the latest version and configure the database/database_connection.asp file to use you upgraded database.

If you try to overwrite old files then you maybe left with unwanted files on the server which are on-longer in use and could course a potential security issue.
