Hi,

I've replaced the Favicon with a custom one relevant to our forum, but it won't display. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks....

IE and some other browsers will cache the favicon. You just have to wait for your browsers cache to give up the old one before you see the new one.

It's been almost a month now and it still isn't showing. I've even manually deleted the cache. This is happening on every PC that accesses the Forum.

Any ideas?

Thanks....

Ok, I just did a quick comaprison of the page source for this Forum and our Forum installation. This Forum has the <link> tags in the <head> block that you'd expect to see for a favicon (included below), yet ours doesn't. Any ideas on why this might be happening?

Link tags you'd expect to see:
<link rel="icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />

Thanks....

You do not need to have a link to the favicon file as your browser auto looks for it.

I do find though that some browsers, particularly IE onces they cache a favion they never update their cache. You may need to test in a difefrent browser you have never viewed the forum in.

There are a few reasons why this could happen, but just to clarify -

Did you see the favicon when you first uploaded the forum?
Or now do you just see a blank like folder? beside the address?
Is your forum part of a site?

Also when you create a favicon you need to create it is an .ico file

AND it's not just the extension - you can't make it with some software. It's got to be a certain size, and format file.
Not just any image renamed *.ico will work in my experience.
