I've set up my database_connection.asp OK.

Following this guide the next step is to run the mySQL_server_setup.asp file. I get a 404 page error. I am 100% sure the file is there. I can access it through ftp.

I know that ASP is running on my server as the default.asp is throwing up a database error (because mySQL_server_setup.asp hasn't been run yet)

Anyone got any ideas? I'm totally and absolutely 100% stuck :)

If you are uploading this to a server, then the path would be something like:

http://www.mywebsite.com/forum/mySQL_server_setup.asp to run the file

Which database are you attempting to use?

MySQL or MSSQL?

If you downloaded and/or are using MSSQL then you need to enter a different page name.
which is: msSQL_server_setup.asp

Make sure that:

  • You have downloaded the correct database version
  • you are trying to access the correct file

If it is MySQL that you want and you are sure you downloaded the MySQL version and you are sure that the file is there, the your best bet is to contact your web host.
