Hi,

I'm testing Web Wiz 'locally' on a PC before going live on the server. Using SQL2005 Express and getting error:

"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified"

I'm sure this would have been asked before but I can only see references to similar MySQL errors

Thanks

The error means that the driver to connect to the database can not be found.

What OS are you using and is it an x64 version?

If it is an x64 OS make sure that the application pool is running in 32bit mode.

Thanks for the reply.

I have it working now. I edited database_settings.asp and put in the connection detailsmanually. Not sure if this was the recommended mothod but it works!

I'm having to connect using SQL authentication and the password indatabase_settings.asp is plain text. Can this be encrypted?

Looking good at the minute though!Smile

It can not be encrypted.

I would recommend that you use TCP/IP to connect to the database and create a user on the SQL Server that it limited to just the forums database.
