I'm working on an installation of version 9.70 of this nice forum on my home page ahlers.dk I have copied all files to ahlers.dk/forum, and started the installation process. The database connection test to MySql was succesfull. But now I get the message: "Please check that you have Read, Write, and Modify Permissions on the Web Wiz
Forums 'Database' Directory" The access to the folder "forum" is "755" as recommented by the support on my ISP One.com I have tried to change it to 777 but that did not help.

The database folder must have read and write permissions on it, even if you are using My SQL or SQL database

CHMOD permissions 775 or 777 is a *nix command that lets you change the permissions on a *nix server using FTP. On a Windows server permissions can not be set in this way.
As your host is saying to set these permissions either they have given incorrect information, or more likely you are hosting on a *nix server.
Web Wiz Forums only runs on a Windows IIS server, so if this is the case you need to move to a Windows web host.

I've looked up one.com and they do appear to be a Linux host so you can not run Web Wiz Forums with them. You need to change to a Windows hosting package like one of those below:-

Hi Bruce
Thanks for your reply and it is correct that my ISP one.com only is running on Linux Servers.
I understand that the webwiz is only running on Windows server, I am just curious why is it so?
I have another MySQL ASP application running on this Linux server without problems.
Kind regards

Microsoft wrote ASP for their Windows IIS server, they did not write it for any other web server.
You can get 3rd party software to allow ASP to run on Apache servers, however this software does not fully support all of ASP's functionality. If you are running a basic ASP application then it should run fine, but with something as complex as Web Wiz Forums it would only run under Windows IIS.
