Dear All ,
i use Web wiz forum 9.65 version. I have problem while posting. I have noticed that if i have disabled the email notifications ,when i write a message and press the post button ,i can post immediately.

But if i have email notifications enabled ,when i press the post button ,the other users receive the email i post ,but it takes so much time until the post completes.
I have used cdosys and aspemail but the same happens with the posts. As i said when i disable email notifications the post completes immediately.

Can you help me pls?

Thank you

Dimitris

This certainly sounds like an issue with the speed of your mail server or lag times connecting to the mail server.

Make sure the mail server you are using is not under to much load and that it is either local to the server or on the same network.

It's not problem of the mail Server. The email comes almost immediately after pressing the post ,but the post doesn't complete ,it takes time. Is there any parameter in any asp file?

From what you are saying it is 100% a mail server issue as you do not have the issue when you turn email notification off.

You may be able to pickup the email straight away, but the speed at which you pickup the email does not relate to the speed at which the web server and mail server connect.

For example GMails mail servers are very fast and you can pickup emails quickly. However, if you are trying to use Web Wiz Forums to connect to GMail to send emails for your forum then the Internet will place a lag on the connection. This may only be 100ms but if you got 25 emails to send then 100ms x 25 = 2,500ms making the posting of a new post slow.

If you use a localhost or mail server on the same network then the lag will only be around 0 to 2ms so sending 25 emails would take around 10ms, so posting would be much faster.

yes of course ,but i don't want this to be sent every time they receive an email with post. The userns don't want to read at their emails every time all this information first ,and then the original post.

End fortunatelly ,i found the installed the version 9.65 cause after this version and with 9.71 version i tried ,when they receive an email with a reply ,it says that maybe other replies to this thread and you dont receive the other replies from this thread until you login again to the forum.
This completely stupid for me and my collegues cause we want all the replies to be sent to our emails ,in case for example we have 1 week holiday. To not waste time when we return back to our job after our holiday and to have to read for one hour all the posts we missed by email.
