I have been using free edition since 2009 at the domain www.starfans.com.ar under /boards url. It was great and a very reliable product, but after I updated to version 10.03 we are experiencing serious problems. From time to time, the forum hangs up and froze.

Access databases are desktop databases, while fine for very light web usage are totally no good for a large forum like your own.

Access also shares 20 database connections shared with all websites on the same server who share the same App Pool Process.

Either your forum has outgrown Access or someone else on the same server sharing the same application pool is using up the small resource pool that you share for Access database connections, causing this error.

You could talk to your web host to try and resolve this issue, but my recommendation would be to upsize the Access database to SQL Server.

While I understand this, which have sense for me, why did not happen with the previous version? 9.56a? I know that there are running app on that server using access, but in a different app pool. Could be possible that 10.03 is doing something more or forgetting to release the database connection at some point?

All database connections are closed. however, from version 9.6x onwards sessions are stored in the database, which Access may not be able to cope with on a busy forum.

In the admin area on the configuration page you can change this so that Web Wiz Forums stores sessions in the servers memory instead of the database. This is not as good as it does mean that when the app pool recycles all sessions are dropped, but if you want to keep using Access you may need to do this.

If this error keeps coming and going it points to a resource issue with the server you are using and you should contact your web hosting company or move servers.
