All of a sudden I get the following error:

Quote
Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occurred while writing to the database.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_Access_getUserData()_update_last_visit
File Name:- functions_login.asp

Error details:-
Microsoft JET Database Engine
Operation must use an updateable query.

I'm using an older version of WebWiz and a .mdb database.

The same error I get when using the latest version of WebWiz that I shadow run as I'm in the middle of an upgrade.

I have not changed anything in the last 2 months on both of my versions and the run their databases from different folders.

Good morning,

I read that you haven’t changed anything, but often that message is misleading and means that either the folder or the access database is lacking write permissions.

Despite what it says it is probably nothing the do with the query per-se as the update query that you mention is not one that is likely to fail with that error as it is a simple update.

If you right click on the folder and the database from Windows Explorer you may get a security tab, if you do check that write permissions on both the folder and the mdb are set.

If you don’t get a security tab, then goto Tools-Folder Options->View->Use Simple File Sharing and untick it. Then do the above paragraph.

There is no obvious reason why permissions would have changed from what you have said but.....

Bye

Ian

Why does anyone need more than an 80x25 character only VDU?

Thanks for the reply!

atm. I cannot contact my hoster and my first thing was thinking the same: write permissions.

First thing tomorrow I will contact them to have them check this.

Probably they made a mistake on changing these permissions.
