Adding it to your forum site that is. Confused I'm having a devil of job trying to get this set up

I got so far as installing and setting up WordPress on the wwwroot folder which worked but managed to take out all my archived forum infrastructure, so obviously I took the blog out altogether and went back to the drawing board (after Bruce kindly retrieved my archives for me Embarrassed)

Have tried unsuccessfully to reinstall by creating a blog folder on the wwwroot which installed OK with a start up post page but then failed to link up with vital things like the Dashboard which was also apparently  installed on the blog folder and got this warning come up for all the login, set up and install files I could see were 'there' (mywebsite.org.uk used to protect the innocent and easily embarassed Embarrassed). In this example using the blog folder...

Warning: require_once(C:\HostingSpaces\TNT\mywebsite.org.uk\wwwroot/blog/wp-load.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\HostingSpaces\TNT\mywebsite.org.uk\wwwroot\blog\wp-admin\install.php on line 36 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required 'C:\HostingSpaces\TNT\mywebsite.org.uk\wwwroot/wp-load.php' (include_path='.;C:\Program Files (x86)\PHP\v5.3\pear') in C:\HostingSpaces\TNT\mywebsite.org.uk\wwwroot\blog\wp-admin\install.php on line 36

As you may guess I'm a complete techno-numpty even with a nice WebWiz CP interface to use but I'm fast coming to the conclusion that having a forum (decommissioned archive) and a blog on the same site won't work? Except I've seen them on other forum sites so it must work somehow? Or do you know different - any ideas or inspiration on how to get this up and running as it wants to install but then trips up when I set a path that won't wipe out the rest of the site Confused

Mods - please do move this to a more appropriate forum if I've gone and posted it somewhere silly Dead

The URL Rewriting in WordPress means that you can not install WordPress in the root of the website and Web Wiz Forums in a sub folder.

You would need to move Web Wiz Forums to it's own website under a sub domain such as forum.example.com, you will then be able to have WordPress hosted in the root of the main website.

I've got 2 sub-domain options for moving the archived forum over but am not clear how I set the sub domain up on the top domain site.
My hosting plan allows for 2 websites and both of these are active and need to be kept separated, so I'd want the sub-domain running  off the domain/website where the blog needs to be installed as well? and I can't see how to set that up in the CP (nor would I like to try it as I've no idea what damage I could do Embarrassed).

Any suggestions on how to get that going?

You would need to have a free website that is not in use to use for the sub domain for your forum.

Looks like I'll have to rethink then as I currently have no WebWiz hosted sites free to take the forum database

Thanks for your help with this Smile
