Can someone advise on the minimum necessary Windows server permissions to make the forum functional?  My web host is clueless.

u should enable following permisisons on the forums diretory for IUSR_XXXX (where XXXX is the machine name)

  • Read
  • Execute

if u want to enable file upload.. then enable write permission on the "upload" folder

You don't need execute permissions at all. Just Script and read for the forum files, write permission for the database (if access) and an eventual upload folder.
