Hey.... it isnt of any great importance... it just gets to be annoying... I installed windows 2003 as a development platform, so that i could code some stuff, test it on my machine... then upload it to my main servers, making sure that it works before I upload the files... I get an error when I use an include in asp... it is all right and stuff if it is in the same directory, but if it is in a higher directory, and i want to get it, i use the ../include_file.asp and that gives me an error : ( that makes me sad.... btw, when i get home i will give you all the error code... (im at school) but when i get home i will give you the asp error code & that should shed further light on my problem... Does ne1 know if microsoft made any big changes to the asp.dll file? because I tested this problem on my 2k advanced server machine and it worked fine... maybe i have a crappy install of windows 2003... or maybe i did something wrong in IIS6 other than that the eval kit of 2k3 roxors! i wuv it : ) you should all get a copy of it if u guys are doing asp and stuff... just sign up for the eval kit @ microsofts website & they will send you a disk in like a month... or you can just download the iso files. Im rambling and stuff, so im just gonna go back to my assignment... lol

Thanx in advance,

I've had a lot of trouble in the past trying to uninstall MS beta's and eval's to install the final release product. Not to mention the times the beta expired before final release was available and locked my system up for a few days until MS reacted.

You need to bear in mind that early Forum stat...

James, MS will be the lion... guess what part you get?

lol...

I know this is kinda ironic... because i am on a linux machine : ) i have had not to restart this machine for like a month and i miss the wysiwyg editor when im running the server... But ummm yea... i have some things that will extend the evaluation of the 2003 eval kit... just e-mail me and i will give u the nfo. But i am not the one that has it... my friend has it and ill tell him you want it... I buy my stuff but there are cheap people out there that might need a little more than 180 days to evaluate the product.

Btw i run loonox & use windows hosts : ) lol!

(Note - this is what I've gathered from earlier posts, I don't use W2K3 myself). By default, Windows 2003 has the 'Use parent paths' option set to false - you need to either change this to true or use include #virtual. To change it:

  • Open IIS admin
  • Go into web site properties
  • Click the Home directory tab, then configuration (for the application), then the options tab.
  • Try changing the value for "Enable Parent Paths"
