uri to string?

Does anyone know how to convert an uri to a string? (Cstr won't work)
I need it to convert a request.url to a string.
Coz I'll put my current url in a variable...or are there other solutions?

I take it a uri is a type e.g. Dim thing As uri if it is try:

thing.ToString and thing.Value
