    Posted: 08 March 2003 at 8:34am

Hi,

I have installed this and I have the following problem:  My server (win2000, iis5, Aspemail) is not an open relay and will only send mail to the local group.  If an "external" user register or use the forum, the mail will just sit in the STP mailqueue.  Is there a way to log on to the smtp server and "authenticate" the forum as a legitemate mail user and allow it to relay?

Awesome product!

thanx

Jean

No, by using CDONTS your machine is just sending out emails not relaying them.  And the fact that your machine isn't allowing external emails tells me that your machine will not act as an open relay.  So your fine by using CDONTS.

 When I try to use ASPEmail I get this error.  My host does support this mail client.

Persits.MailSender.4 error '800a0006'

550 not local host sc.rr.com, not a gateway

/forum/functions/functions_send_mail.asp, line 269

When I use ASPmail it says that it has been successfully sent but I have yet to recieve and e-mail even though everything is setup correctly.

I remember that I had this same problem with outlook and they said I had to check the box that says "My server requires authentication".  Is their some code that I would need to add inorder to use ASPEmail

I

I found it you need to add the following code to the send_mail.asp file.

.username = "username"

.Password = "password"

Just replace you username and password in the Quotes and it will work.  This is a premium service so just becuase they have ASPEmail does not mean they have this feature.
